August 18, 2025​

  • Imagery from WorldView Legions 5 and 6 is now available for streaming in the ArcGIS Pro and QGIS add-ins.

August 4, 2025, Updated Bruno Collection and Monitoring Sample App​

The following updates have been made to the API Bruno Collection. Download the latest collection.

  • The ordering examples folder included two HD examples that were incorrect. These have been replaced. The new HD examples can be found in this location:

  • The Account Services (Admin) API has been removed from this collection. Download the Account Services Collection.

  • A new sample application is now available demonstrating the Monitoring API. The concept for the application was real estate monitoring, where a user might want to track construction progress, or watch how full parking lots are. You can create monitors to track new imagery for properties. We also show how to use the custom metadata fields in Monitors to get additional functionality without needing to set up an additional database and API. Check out the Monitoring Sample App.

July 17, 2025, MGP Pro 1.9.0​

Updated MGP Plugins​

The ArcGIS Pro plugin has been updated to version 1.8. The QGIS plugin has been updated to 1.4. Both plugins have been upgraded to natively support MGP project viewing. Both plugins also now support time-of-day image filtering and a Cat-ID search function.

June 30, 2025, Account Services API Collection​

There is a new API collection titled the "Account Services API Collection". This collection allows account administrators to view various information about their accounts, activations, roles, georestrictions, rate tables, and more. It also allows account administrators to create users, update user information, and do a variety of other tasks related to users. See Account Services Collection.

Tasking API request limit increase​

The Tasking API can now handle up to 1000 tasking requests per hour. See Tasking Request Limits.

Vivid Ordering by API is now generally available​

Vivid ordering by API is now generally available. This means you can order Vivid Standard and Vivid Advanced products through the ordering API.

Stacking Profiles for OGC Streaming Services​

Add a stacking profiles to your streaming services request to change the order of returned results. Learn More

Order Online imagery​

Order RGB imagery by sending the IDs and AOI to the Ordering API. The pipeline name is imagery/online-ordering. Learn More

Zip File Download Delivery Option​

The output files for an order can be delivered as a zip file download link. We've updated the examples throughout the user guides and other resources to use this delivery option. Learn more

ArcGIS Pro MGP Add-in 1.7​

The ability to search for imagery by ID has been added to the ArcGIS Pro MGP add-in. The new version is 1.7. Learn More

QGIS MGP Plugin v1.3​

The latest QGIS plugin includes archive imagery and the "ingest to streaming" option. Learn more

New Developer Resource: Sample Projects​

Sample Projects demonstrate how to integrate with platform APIs and services. Clone the Github repository to explore the code or use it as a starting point for your own project. See our first set of Sample Projects.

Updated Bruno Collection​

We've added a "More Ordering Examples" folder in the Ordering directory that includes examples of ordering different types of products. Download the latest Bruno collection.

New MGP Status Page​

The new MGP status dashboard is now live. Bookmark this page and use it to check for service outages and service issues. MGP login credentials are required.

The previous version of the status page has been retired and will no longer be updated.

Highlights​

  • New Precision3D products available to order via the Ordering API
  • Vivid Standard 30 and Vivid Advanced 15 basemap imagery products are available to order via the Ordering API. This capability is in "limited release" and is not available to all accounts.
  • Object Detection Inference data available to order via the Ordering API. his capability is in "limited release" and is not available to all accounts.
  • Imagery from WorldView Legion 3 and 4 is now available to discover, stream, and order.

New Precision3D products via the Ordering API​

The following new Precision3d products are now available via the Ordering API:

Precision3D Buildings - describes the footprint and superstructures of buildings in a vector format with height attribution for a 3D representation. The vectors are automatically extracted from the Precision3D 3D Surface Model.

Precision3D Classification (vector-refined) - describes the type of terrain class in a raster format. This type of product is sometimes referred to as land use/land cover or clutter classification data. The classification data is automatically extracted from the Precision3D 3D Surface Model.

Precision3D Digital Height Model (vector-refined) - describes the above-ground difference between the Precision3D DSM and Precision3D DTM in a raster format, including buildings and vegetation which were removed in the process of creating the Precision3D DTM.

Precision3D Point Cloud - describes the earth's surface form and texture (natural color) in industry standard point cloud formats.

Precision3D Vegetation - describes the vegetation footprint in a vector format with height attribution for a 3D representation. The vectors are automatically extracted from the Precision3D 3D Surface Model.

Vivid Basemaps via the Ordering API​

Vivid basemaps provide high-quality, visually consistent views of Earth. These basemaps are ideal for use as map contextual layers, for extracting map features at scale, and for visualization within an application. Vivid Standard 30 cm and Vivid Advanced 15 cm basemap imagery can be ordered for download by making a request to the MGP Ordering API.

Object Detection data via the Ordering API​

The Object Detection Inference API is used to place orders for object detections on imagery. The API enables users to order detections of the following objects:

  • Aircraft
  • Construction equipment
  • Military equipment
  • Vehicles
  • Vessels

February 27, 2025​

Enhanced Imagery layers bring the on-demand processing power of the Raster Analytics API to OGC clients. This means that any client that can display WMS images can view images processed with these proprietary Maxar® technologies:

  • Raster Analytics
  • High Definition (HD) Imaging
  • Precision3D Registration (P3DR)

The MGP Postman web page and collection have been deprecated and will be removed after November 30, 2024. We've replaced this with an API collection authored and maintained using the Bruno API client. Learn more

WorldView Legion Imagery Support​

WorldView Legion imagery is now available via the Discovery, Streaming, Ordering, and Raster Analytics APIs. Information can be found in each individual API guide.

Discovery collections for Worldview Legion imagery are lg01 and lg02.

Streaming Services​

To filter for Worldview Legion imagery from the Streaming - Imagery API, apply a cql filter. This example will return available imagery from the Legion-1 and Legion-2 satellites.

Archive Ordering​

To order WorldView Legion imagery from the Ordering API, include a product_option value that applies to Legion imagery. The 8Band bundles that end in _L and MS1_MS3 are product options for ordering WorldView Legion imagery.

Raster Analytics API​

Band selection: The band options for WorldView Legion imagery are different than the legacy WorldView satellites.

August 1, 2024, MGP Pro 1.6.0​

Vivid Advanced 15 CM HD​

Vivid Advanced 15 cm HD basemaps and seamlines are now available to stream.

The following Vivid Products can be streamed using OGC services:

Vivid BasemapDescription
Vivid Advanced 15 cm HDAn imagery basemap with 15cm HD Product GSD and 5m CE90 accuracy, plus committed image currency and advanced aesthetics, including minimal clouds and shear.
Vivid Standard 30 cm HDA global imagery basemap with 30 cm HD Product GSD and 5m CE90 accuracy, and includes the most recent imagery available that provides a high quality, clear view of the ground.

Vivid Basic has been deprecated and will not be available after December 31, 2024.

Vivid Advanced 30 and Vivid Premium have been deprecated and will not be available after Monday September 2, 2024. See the Deprecation Notice.

Discovery API Update: Area-based calculations​

The Discovery API now supports "Area Based Calculations". When this mode is toggled on, two additional fields are added to the metadata properties:

  • area:cloud_cover_percentage: the percentage of cloud cover within the supplied AOI
  • area:avg_off_nadir_angle: average off-nadir angle within the supplied AOI

AOIs can be either the STAC bbox or intersects geometry. This feature does not apply to gridded searches.

The latest ESRI MGP Add-ins are now available with the following updates:

  • Vivid Advanced 15 availability

  • Name change from PCM to CM for Change Monitoring features. Note: the layer names have not changes.

June 14, 2024, MGP Pro 1.5.3​

Deprecation Notice: "API Token" name change to "API Key"​

The term "API token" has been replaced with "API key". This change draws a clearer distinction between bearer tokens (JWTs) and longer-lived API keys. The legacy name will be supported until September 15, 2024.

This name change has been made in the following places:

Precision3D Ordering Limited Release​

Precision3D ordering is now available as a Limited Release.

The following Precision3D products are available to order through the Ordering API:

  • Precision3D Digital Terrain Model (DTM)
  • Precision3D Digital Surface Model (DSM)
  • Precision3D Elevation bundle (DTM and DSM delivered together)
  • Precision3D True Ortho
  • Precision3D 3D Surface Model
  • Precision3D 3D Bundle (3DSM, DSM and True Ortho delivered together)

Other improvements and bug fixes​

ARD Ordering: Collection bbox fields did not follow the written specification for STAC Collections.​

The STAC specification allows for a list of multiple bboxes to be passed, but requires then that an additional bbox be prepended to the list that summarizes the total bounds of the multiple bboxes. This update adds the summary bbox as described by the specification. The addition does not change the schema of the Collection object.

ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap MGP Add-in updates

The ESRI Add-ins for MGP have been updated to fix a case with authentication that could prevent some users from viewing imagery. The version numbers for both the ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap Add-ins have been incremented to 1.3.0.

ArcMap MGP Add-in v1.0.0 (NEW!)​

An MGP Add-in is now available for use with ArcMap v10.7.1 or higher. Stream imagery, Vivid basemaps, and Change Monitoring (CM) layers.

Tasking API​

Use the Tasking API to request imagery collection over an area of interest (AOI) within a specified time frame. Content production and delivery will occur as imagery is captured, even if imagery is captured for only some part of the requested AOI. When a new tasking order is placed, credits are reserved (not available for use) until the order is fulfilled.

OGC Web Coverage Service (WCS) added to Streaming - Imagery API​

The WCS endpoint provides download access to the "raw" images that are displayed by the WMS endpoint. While these images are also 8-bit RGB, they are not rendered with the goal of screen display. Instead they can be downloaded in file formats like GeoTIFF for use in other processes. The specification supports subsetting and resampling of the image if needed.

ArcGIS Pro MGP Add-in v1.1.1​

Upgrade now to version 1.1.1. This patch release fixes a recently introduced issue where imagery was not working in the MGP Add-in.

QGIS Integration tutorial​

An issue was recently discovered where tilesets in EPSG:4326 projection show no results if the "Ignore axis orientation (WMS 1.3/WMTS)" is checked. The instructions have been updated to show this option as unchecked.

Change Monitoring (CM) is now available in the ArcGIS Pro MGP Add-in v1.1. You can now view change polygons and metadata for available CM layers.

Token Service Updates​

Note: in previous documentation we used the term API tokens. We now refer to these as API keys.

The Token Service generates API keys that can be used to authenticate a specific project, such as an application. There are several important changes to this service:

  • Token service v1 is now deprecated and will be retired on January 15, 2024.

  • All existing and newly created API keys now have expiration dates.

  • Token Service v2 is now available. This version supports setting your own expiration date when you create a new API key.
