Change Monitoring
Change Monitoring SAR (20 m) is available to order and download via the Ordering API as a limited release. CM-EO is not available through the Ordering API at this time.
Overview of Change Monitoring
Change Monitoring utilizes commercial moderate-resolution imagery to detect a wide range of change phenomena such as early-stage construction, earth removal, the building/removal of buildings, roads, and infrastructure, deforestation, battle damage, and changes in landcover due to natural processes. Change Monitoring leverages both SAR and EO sensor modalities such as Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 to generate a comprehensive change data set which leverages the strengths of both radar and electro-optical remote sensing. Change Monitoring production updates occur monthly and is dependent on the global coverage of the Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 image acquisition as determined by the European Space Agency.
CM-SAR (20 m)
Based on a multi-temporal stack of Sentinel 1A/1B GRDH Interferometric Wide Swath (IW) data. The satellites have day and night, all-weather, imaging capabilities, and acquire imagery with a 250 km swath width at 20m x 22m spatial resolution in both Ascending and Descending modes, and VV & VH polarizations.
This technology is ideal for persistent surface texture changes, especially the identification of new construction/destruction, deforestation/reforestation and man-made changes. CM-SAR employs a historical baseline to minimize the effects of naturally occurring seasonal changes.
